Dr. Papa Kaku Badoe |

Dr. Kaku Badoe was born in Dundee, Scotland. After spending his childhood in the United Kingdom he moved with his family to Ghana. He subsequently attended the School of Medical Sciences in the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, where he received a BSc in Human Biology in 1987 and an MD degree in 1991. Shortly after completing his houseman ship he joined the Brown University Internal Medicine program at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. Upon graduating in 1997 he, along with a colleague, established The Miriam Hospital Hospitalist program. At the time of his departure in June 2009 the program had grown from two to eighteen physicians. During this period he was also the founding director of a similar program in Newport Hospital, RI. Despite his busy in patient medicine schedule Dr. Badoe was also a part time consultant to the Providence ambulatory centers until 2007. Dr. Badoe has always taken a keen interest in the education of medical students. He won the best teacher award as a resident in 1997 and the Brown Medical School Deans award for teaching in 2005. He has held a clinical assistant professorship at Brown University since 2000. Dr. Badoe is board certified in Internal Medicine and was elected a Fellow of the American College of physicians in 2004. His areas of interest in medicine include International Health and Cardiology. In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Badoe recently graduated from Bryant University with an MBA. His hobbies include photography, African Literature and cooking. Dr. Badoe lives with his wife and three children in South Eastern Massachusetts. |
